Since it was established in 1945 as Japan's first engineering consulting firm, CTI has provided professional services in research, planning and design for public infrastructure development. The Company's services support public infrastructure that furthers social progress, enhances safety and the quality of life and protects the environment and property. We have served in partnership with our clients, always as independent consultants and engineers with no vested interest in any contractor or supplier.
The role of consulting engineers has broadened over time and continues to evolve in the 21st Century. The Company has long provided professional technical services in planning, research and design in response to changing circumstances and client requirements. Over the past several years, we have seen our role expand to include advisory services in such areas as public involvement and public information, maintenance and asset management, and actual project implementation. Providing services in these critical management areas has further enhanced CTI's professional reputation. In addition to comprehensive civil engineering and management services, we have been developing new areas of work related to education, welfare and culture, finance and policy analysis.
Public infrastructure encompasses a wide range of assets that society will use over a long period of time. Life-cycle costs, environmental preservation, aesthetics and functions are among the considerations that engineers and consultants must take into account in the context of design, implementation, operation and maintenance of infrastructure facilities. CTI considers environmental, social, and financial conditions and other global issues as important factors in every project. Based on a long-term perspective, we are committed to two key objectives, "harmonization of nature and society" and "public infrastructure development that provides value and enhances the quality of life."
