18 Apr. 2018 CTII wins JAPAN Construction International Award
CTI International (CTII), part of CTI Group, is pleased to have won the JAPAN Construction International Award alongside contractor JFE Engineering Corporation for the Railway Flyover in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
Established in 2017 by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, the award recognises Japanese businesses that have achieved ‘high quality infrastructure’ through excellent know-how, technical capabilities, and project management capabilities.
The new flyover comprises a 262m steel bridge and a 362m approach road across the railway that divides Mongolia’s capital, into north and south, reducing the distance between the city and international airports by approximately 3km.
CTII was responsible for the planning, design and construction supervision of the project. In the early design stages, the team had to carefully consider challenges such as temperatures falling to minus 40 degrees during the winter and a traffic load of over 50,000 vehicles per day during construction.
Funded by the Japanese Government, the new gateway increases logistics access and aims to contribute to Mongolia's economic growth as well as improving the living environment of Ulaanbaatar citizens.
