A Technical Exchange Seminar on the Water Environment was held with the Changjiang River Scientific Research Institute (CRSRI) in Wuhan, China.

A new joint venture, Wuhan CTI-CRSRI Engineering & Environment Co., Ltd., was established with the Changjiang River Scientific Research Institute in Wuhan, China.

Dr. Yumio ISHII, Chairman of CTIE, assumed the 95 th Presidency of Japan Society of Civil Engineers (JSCE). In his office possession speech, Dr. Ishii expressed that his efforts during the one year tenure will be addressed to implement (i): a National Census to know what are the needs of the Japanese society, a "health-check" to evaluate the engineering capabilities with special emphasis on the ever so important Environment, and (ii): further contribute to the development and welfare in the Asian region transmitting the experiences Japan has gain over the years.
