Free software for Remote Sensing Image Processing "RSP" released.
- ■ Outline of RSP
Capturing and processing/displaying of the remote sensing images have conventionally required purchase of any dedicated software. In particular, there has been almost no freeware that allows experiencing supervised and unsupervised classifications by using the full scene satellite remote-sensing images.
With an aim at broadening the basis of the field of remote sensing, we are releasing, free of charge, “RSP,” the software developed for remote sensing image processing. This software is designed for anyone to experience such processing with ease.
“RSP” is a freeware capable of processing the remote sensing images, mainly, bit-mapped images. Principal features are described below:
- 1. File processing
For format conversion of the remote sensing images from satellites to bit-mapped or RAW images. This also enables image sampling and connection, color composition and color separation, and pansharpening of images.
- 2. Geometric correction
For affine transformation and pseudo affine transformation
- 3. Filtering
For masking, median filtering, first derivation, and second derivation
- 4. Image computation
For determination of the sum, difference, product, quotient, and NDVI
- 5. Analyzing
Display the correlation chart and creation of the correlative image. This also enables major component analysis and creates the major component images.
- 6. Color tone processing
For image enhancement, digitalization, histogram, pseudo color expression, multi-level slicing, etc.
- 7. Displaying
For enlarged and reduced image display, full-screen image display, partially enlarged display, comparative display of two images, and image DN display, etc.
- 8. Classified image creation
Classified image creation according to the maximum likelihood method (supervised classification), k-means method (unsupervised classification), etc.
- 9. Topography display
Digital elevation data procession, displays of the digital elevation data, inclination value and slope direction.

The satellite images and image file formats applicable to this software are as follows:

Terms and Conditions for Permission to Use
CTI Engineering Co., Ltd. (hereinafter, the “Company”) permits free use of the Software under the terms and conditions set forth below. If a user installs the Software on a memory device such as a PC, the user shall be deemed to have agreed to the terms and conditions set forth below. Please refrain from installing the Software, if you cannot agree to these terms and conditions.
1. The Software is freeware. It may be used on multiple computers
2. The Software may not be used for commercial or other unauthorized purposes other than individual use.
3. The Software may not be modified or analyzed for any purpose.
4. Users may not incorporate, as a component of other software, all or part of the Software Group (meaning multiple executable files).
5. Users may, on the condition of compliance with these terms and conditions, duplicate or distribute the Software for the benefit of third parties.
6. The Company shall not be liable in any way for compensation for direct, indirect, special, incidental and/or consequential damage (including damage of all kinds such as lost income), or for claim or petition for infringement of right or damages from any third party; and users are totally responsible for the results. The same shall apply even if the Company is warned or advised of the possibility of occurrence of damage or can foresee such damage.
7. If any dispute arises between a user and a third party concerning use of the Software, the user shall resolve the dispute on its responsibility and at its own cost, and the Company shall not be liable in any way.
8. The Company shall not provide users with any support required for use of the Software.
9. The Company shall not warrant in any way completeness, correctness, exactness, utility or other features concerning the contents of the Software.
10. The Software Group, dbrtl100.bpl, rtl100.bpl, vcl100.bpl, vcldb100.bpl, borlndmm.dll, cc3270mt.dll is provided by Borland Software Corporation. Users may use them only when using the executable files of the Software.
11. This Agreement shall be effective from the time of execution of this Agreement and until a user discontinues use of the Software.
12. This Agreement and all legal related connection herein shall be governed by the laws of Japan, and this Agreement shall be construed and interpreted under those laws.
The software hereunder is the latest version, and it may be revised at any time though. The historical log of revisions is described in the Japanese manual “manual_ja” which is attached in the downloaded files.

The satellite images and image file formats applicable to this software are as follows:
Down lorded files are confined in the LZH format. Please use any suitable un-confine software to untie them.
The installation procedures are described in the “readme_en” file, which is attached in the downloaded files.
