A master plan was formulated to strengthen the autonomous water management for the seven major river basins with a total catchment area of 3,697 km2, all located in South Sulawesi Province. The major approaches to the plan formulation were decided through the public consultation meetings, where proposals and suggestions were obtained from the relevant private stakeholders as well as representatives of communities for incorporation into the plan.

Based on the public consultation, a proper water management plan was elaborated in order to mitigate the flood impacts and to improve the life conditions in the area.
