The extra-dosed bridge is a new type of bridge design. It is, expected to become a popular and useful type of bridge, because of its cost-efficient performance, workability and bridge aesthetics. About thirty extra-dosed bridges have been built in Japan. CTI was responsible for the design of four of these bridges.
The Miyakodagawa bridge, located in the prefecture of Shizuoka near Hamamatsu city, is a two spanned bridge of 268 m and part of the Second Tomei Highway. The bridge has receive excellent reviews for the design, specially the contribution to the local landscape; and for it anti-seismic measurements that theoretically able it to resist a Richter magnitude 8 earthquake.
