The Tonle Sap lake is the biggest fresh water lake in South Asia and has a unique geology, changing it total area from 2500 Km2 to 15000 km2 between the dry season and the rain season. Because of this drastic change, the floodplain is annually enriched by nutrients from the sediments, allowing to support the rich biodiversity and the agricultural production of Cambodia.

The objectives for this Projects were, to obtain accurate data to comprehend the water flow in the floodplain on the basin of Mekong River; and create a data base with hydrologic modeling and analysis for future developing and managing the floodplain projects.
