A science that studies the interaction of humans and nature (including rivers, lakes and other water systems), can be positioned between the field of biology and civil engineering, and its development is not entirely clear. The Aqua Restoration Center focuses on human activities and different water systems, and through its basic and applied researches looks for answers on how to protect and/or restore water systems.

Work at the Center focuses on comprehension of the interrelationships between the factors involved in water systems (space, water, living organisms and humans). Based on this, the Center elaborates an adequate water system management methods. In order to achieve its objectives, the Center conducts experiments and tests using models of rivers and lakes, which are used in Center installations. Research results are accessible to anyone that is interested.

CTI cooperates closely with the Center when implementing research, elaborating designs and conducting follow-up studies.
