Industrialization in the urban areas of Egypt has remarkably advanced in recent years, but at the same time, this progress also brought about various types of environmental problems such as air pollution, water quality deterioration, and threading the public health.

CTII has provided technical assistance with the Egyptian Government for setting up 8 regional environment monitoring stations and establishing the nationwide environmental monitoring network system under the Japan's Grant Aid Program. Technical and management guidance related to these monitoring equipments and facilities has been also undertaken for their proper operation.
