Industrialization in urban areas of Egypt has remarkably advanced much in recent years. However, this progress also brought various environmental problems, such as air and water pollution, threading public health.

To avoid an environmental disaster, CTII assisted the Egyptian Government, in the activities for setting up 8 regional environment monitoring offices and establish the nationwide environmental monitoring network under the Japan's Grant Aid Program. CTII supplied the monitoring equipment, and also provided technical guidance and management services in order to accomplished the Project.
