Due to population growth and a increasing human and industrial activities, the Ganga River has become significantly polluted. Pollution abatement projects and environmental management has become an urgent requirement. The Government of India, aware and concerned, requested aid to solve this environmental problem.
The Japanese government agreed to give assistance to this problem. This give the opportunity to CTII to be selected by JICA to conduct a Study for the mitigation of the deteriorated river and its pollution problem. Sewerage system improvement, drainage system supervision and improvement, social development, institutional strengthening and technology transfer were some of the fields that the Study covered.
