CTI Engineering Co., Ltd. and its group company CTI REED Co., Ltd. have developed Integrated Traffic Data System Ver. 1.0--a platform for centrally analyzing and visualizing various types of data, including statistical information related to the road traffic field and other open data as well as big data related to traffic--and we have started providing service that utilizes the new platform.

 

In addition to promoting DX in the road traffic field, this data system will contribute to the improvement of customer service quality and production efficiency through the advanced utilization of information, and we will also utilize the system to contribute to the achievement of a sustainable society, one of our company's key goals.

 

1. Background

In the past, research and examination business in the road traffic field was done by using various kinds of data, including traffic volume research data and statistical data disclosed by government offices, to analyze regional and traffic characteristics. In recent years--due to the digitization and increased availability of administrative information--although it has become possible to easily obtain and utilize various kinds of data, and there is increasing utilization of so-called big data, the burden imposed by data processing is also increasing, leading to reduced business efficiency. In addition, sharing knowledge and other information between offices has become an issue.

 

2. Overview of the Integrated Traffic Data System

For the system we developed, various types of data that show the regional and traffic situation--including point information such as points where traffic accidents have occurred, line information such as the speed of different road sections, and area information such as the population of each area--are registered and regularly updated by CTI REED Co., Ltd., and users all over the country can access the system via the web depending on their objectives and then search for, view, or download data anytime.

3. Effects of introduction

The main effects of introducing the system are described below, and we confirmed at the development stage that the system will result in major improvements to customer service quality, production efficiency, etc.

 

(1) Improved customer service quality: Questions from customers can be answered immediately on the spot.

(2) Improved explanatory power: Data can be used during business meetings, etc. to make advanced presentations that offer a great deal of explanatory power.

(3) Improved production efficiency: The system greatly reduces working hours conventionally necessary for data analysis and visualization. 

 

4. Future outlook

We plan to repeatedly improve the system through in-house use for contracted business, etc. while also utilizing the system as a BI tool to facilitate increased production efficiency. We will also promote the utilization of the system as a DX platform for handling the flow of data to external parties, including order-placing parties and partner companies, the linkage of the system with external tools such as PLATEAU--an urban DX tool promoted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism--and external disclosure of the system.
