Technology & Research
CTI Engineering Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo, CEO: Tatsuya NISHIMURA) has received a contract from Canal de Isabel II (https://www.canaldeisabelsegunda.es, hereinafter referred to as "Canal"), a public company that manages the urban water cycle in the Madrid Region, Spain for the "PRUEBA PILOTO PARA EL DESARROLLO DE UN MODELO DE INUNDACIONES A TIEMPO REAL Y PLATAFORMA DE VISUALIZACIÓN Y ALARMAS ASOCIADA" (PILOT PROJECT FOR A REAL TIME FLOOD MODEL DEVELOPMENT AND VISUALISATION PLATFORM ASSOCIATED WITH ALARM). This project aims to utilize our advanced technologies to develop a system that forecasts and manages flood risks in a municipality of the Community of Madrid, with a targeted completion date of April 2025.
1. Background to the project
In recent years, the frequency of heavy rains and floods has been increasing due to climate change caused by global warming. In such a situation, it is crucial to predict flood risks early and minimize damage. Canal has decided to introduce a flood forecasting system to address these risks and has entrusted our company with its development.
2. Our Role and Technology
CTI Engineering has been involved in the development of flood forecasting systems in Japan for more than 40 years, achieving numerous results domestically. In this project, we will leverage our advanced technology and experience, focusing on the following aspects to build the system:
Real-Time Data Collection : Collecting rainfall data in real-time in the target area and reflecting it in the flood forecasting system.
Forecasting Algorithms : Applying inundation forecasting algorithms developed in Japan.
User Interface : Building a Spanish version of an easy-to-use, intuitive interface based on the one proven in Japan.
3. Expected Benefits
The new flood forecasting system is expected to bring the following benefits to Canal:
Early Warning : Enabling quick response by forecasting flood occurrences in advance.
Damage Mitigation : Minimizing flood damage by implementing appropriate preventive measures.
Safety Assurance : Ensuring the safety of local residents and providing an environment where they can live with peace of mind.
