2. Specific Promotion Plan for Achieving Challenges for Sustainability Promotion Goals 2030

2.1 2030 Net zero Achievement Plan

The goal of reaching net zero greenhouse effect gas emissions from the current 6,300 t-CO2 in CTI Engineering Group overall (consolidated base) business activities will be achieved by strengthening energy saving measures and compensatory measures.

Strengthened energy saving measures

Reduction goals will be set for each CTI Engineering Group (consolidated base) company to engage in reducing greenhouse effect gas emissions related to business activities by promoting the following energy saving measures.

Emission Reduction Measures

Category Group overall reduction goals Emission Reduction measures
Electricity usage Reduction: Approx. 1,810 t-CO2
(Reduction of 10% or more compared to 2021)
・Improve basic employee behavior
・Use top energy saving products
・100% LED lighting usage
・Install solar power generating equipment at our buildings (and land)
・ZEB at our buildings
Fuel usage Reduction: Approx. 1,100 t-CO2
(Reduction of 90% or more compared to 2021)
・Improve basic employee behavior
・Use top energy saving products
・100% usage of next-generation vehicles such as fuel cell and electric models
Offsetting measures

Procure renewable energy sources or purchase credits, invest in JCM business, and compensate for reduction equivalent to 3,400t-CO2 to achieve net zero at the CTI Engineering Group by 2030. Concrete compensatory measures will be selected not only for cost effectiveness, but also for their level of contributing to building a sustainable society domestically and abroad.

Offsetting Measures for Consideration

Category Details Effects (excluding CO2 reduction)
Procure renewable energy sources Add value to renewable energy or procure renewable energy sources Promote development of domestic renewable energy power generating facilities
Purchase J credit Introduce renewable energy or energy saving equipment and purchase credits resulting from forest maintenance Expand investment in domestic renewable energy equipment and energy saving equipment and promote forest maintenance among companies and local governments
Purchase JCM credit Purchase credits issued by JCM (Joint Crediting Mechanism: credit system between two countries) Promote development of overseas renewable energy equipment and energy saving equipment, etc.
Certify absorbed amount via forest development Engage in forest development based on certification systems established at the local government level and certify absorbed amounts Promote local forest development on our own and contribute to building a green infrastructure

2.2 Local community Sustainability Promotion Plan

To contribute to improved sustainability in the local community, we will promote proposals that contribute to sustainability in our primary business of consulting services while engaging in business and R&D to contribute to sustainability and actively investing in personnel training.

Promoting consulting services that contribute to sustainability

In individual consulting tasks related to infrastructure development, we will effectively utilize the ISO 14001 series, monitoring proposal details and the number of proposals while promoting horizontal rollout of advanced initiatives within the Group to promote business proposals in consideration of the five challenges.

Five Challenges in Consulting Services

  • (1) Propose disaster prevention and disaster mitigation measures utilizing natural buffer powers and restorative forces against outside forces
  • (2) Propose measures that contribute to reduced greenhouse effect gases across the infrastructure development life cycle
  • (3) Propose measures that help reduce waste across the infrastructure development life cycle
  • (4) Propose measures that contribute to coexistence with the natural environment across the infrastructure development life cycle
  • (5) Promote measures that contribute to the revitalization of communities using ecosystem services brought about by natural capital
Promoting investment that contributes to sustainability

We will promote business investments that contribute to improved sustainability in local communities (green business investments), related R&D investments, and personnel development investments.

(1) Green business investments

We have positioned investment in businesses to achieve the CTI Engineering Group Challenges for Sustainability, such as contributing to achieving net zero at the CTI Group by reducing greenhouse effect gas emissions, improving community value through the manifestation of multi-faceted, natural functionality, and community revitalization through community connections, as green business investments, which will be actively promoted based on the following policies.

Green Business Investment Policies

Category Basic policies

Initiatives are under way at the Research Center for Sustainable Communities (kokudobunka kenkyujo) to fund young researchers from outside the Group and develop an environment for hiring postdocs, all as part of bolstering personnel for increasing sustainability in society overall.

2.3 Information disclosure and governance system

Timely and appropriate disclosure of non-financial information

Due to accelerating activities by the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) and the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD), we will also mention green infrastructure-related initiatives in line with the four pillars of the TCFD declaration and the recommended disclosure details.

Also, by complying with the request to handle the Carbon Disclosure Project’s (CDP) climate change questionnaire, we will endeavor to raise awareness and improve in-house knowledge on ESG investments.

Outside certification related to Challenges for Sustainability

To actively promote initiatives based on the CTI Engineering Group Challenges for Sustainability and show commitment to sustainable management goals, we aim to obtain certification from the following outside organizations.
