CTI Engineering Group's net-zero targets validated by the SBTi

Our greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions targets have been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) [*1] as being aligned with the level of decarbonisation required to meet the goals of the Paris Agreement.　

　

Science Based Targets (SBT) are GHG reduction targets aligned with the level required to limit global temperature rise in line with the Paris Agreement adopted at the 21st Conference of the Parties (COP21) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in 2015. [*2]

Short-term Target (Near-Term)	2030	Scope1+2	Reduce 60.0% GHG emissions by 2030 from a 2021 base year.
		Scope3	Reduce 25.0% GHG emissions by 2030 from a 2023 base year.
Long-Term Target (Long-Term)	2050	Scope1+2	Reduce 90.0% GHG emissions by 2050 from a 2021 base year.
		Scope3	Reduce 90.0% GHG emissions by 2050 from a 2023 base year.

* The long-term target corresponds to a 90% reduction in emissions. Any 10% residual emissions are planned to be neutralised through measures such as the purchase of carbon credits and investment in JCM projects.

　　

　

On June 22, 2022, CTI Engineering Group announced the "CTI Engineering Group Challenges for Sustainability", as a commitment to achieving sustainability through infrastructure development. To realise this commitment, we established the "Challenges for Sustainability Promotion Goals," which include a goal to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas ("GHG") emissions across our entire value chain (Scopes 1-3) by 2050.

　

Following this SBTi validation, our Group will further advance initiatives toward achieving net-zero emissions by 2050. Through these efforts, we aim to realise the objectives set out in the "CTI Engineering Group Basic Policy on Sustainability": enhancing corporate value and contributing to the sustainable development of society.

[*1]　Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi)
A joint initiative by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), CDP (formerly the Carbon Disclosure Project), the World Resources Institute (WRI), and the United Nations Global Compact. SBTi Services, a subsidiary of the initiative, assesses whether companies' CO₂ emissions reduction targets qualify as Science Based Targets in accordance with the criteria established by the SBTi.

　

[*2]　 A level consistent with keeping the increase in global average temperature well below 2°C comparing with pre-industrial levels and pursuing efforts to limit the temperature increase up to 1.5°C.
