Basic Policy on Intellectual Property

1.Introduction

The CTI Engineering Group, under the business philosophy of “challenging to create a safe, comfortable, and enriching society using world-class technology and expertise,” has striven to realize a society where people can live safely and securely by leveraging the Group’s technological assets (intellectual property). In addition, as is enshrined in the CTI Engineering Group’s “SPRONG 2030” mid- to long-term vision established in June 2021, in which we vow to “deepen and integrate proprietary technologies,” “develop new businesses and technologies,” and “capitalize on technologies,” the CTI Engineering Group considers it important to effectively utilize and manage its intellectual property.
To protect such critical assets, the CTI Engineering Group has established the following mid- to long-term Basic Policy on Intellectual Property.

2.Creation of Intellectual Property

• ・The CTI Engineering Group will actively promote the acquisition of advanced technology and cutting-edge knowledge, and endeavor to create intellectual property that contributes to the realization of a safe and secure society.
• ・The CTI Engineering Group will take appropriate procedures to secure rights to intellectual property deemed beneficial to the Group and utilize such rights for the Group’s business.
• ・The CTI Engineering Group will actively carry out collaborative research not only within the Group but also with external partners and create new intellectual property.

3.Management of Intellectual Property

• ・The CTI Engineering Group will appropriately manage its proprietary intellectual property in accordance with laws and regulations and internal regulations.
• ・The CTI Engineering Group will continue to maintain its rights to intellectual property for the duration during which it proves useful and valuable to the CTI Engineering Group’s business activities.
• ・The CTI Engineering Group will inform employees through company education and other activities to ensure that they refrain from acts that infringe upon the intellectual property of third parties.
• ・The CTI Engineering Group will take a firm stance and exercise appropriate and legitimate rights against acts of infringement on intellectual property by third parties.
• ・The CTI Engineering Group will contribute to the advancement of society overall by not securing rights to intellectual properties which are deemed to have extremely limited uses and for which the securing of rights is unnecessary for the Company from a mid- to long-term perspective.
